If you think you have a gas leak

Most reported leaks turn out to be false alarms but we take every report seriously and as if it’s the real deal. As a Lamprey Energy customer we want you to be informed – only by being informed can you react responsibly. If you think you smell gas:

  1. Extinguish all smoking materials and any other open flames
  2. Do not operate any appliances, switches, or thermostats
  3. Get everyone outside and away from gas equipment
  4. Shut off the gas supply, using the shutoff valve at the tank or cylinder
  5. Call Lamprey Energy at 603.946.6703. If the smell is inside the building, use a neighbor’s phone or a cell phone outside
  6. Stay outside and leave the gas off until the leak has been found and fixed by an authorized technician

If you think you have an oil leak

  1. If the leak is substantial call 911 AND Lamprey Energy at 603.964.6703
  2. If the tank is in the basement and you have a sump pump turn the sump pump OFF
  3. Try to keep the oil away from any water source
  4. If the leak is small and can be contained place a can, bucket, or other receptacle beneath it to catch the drip
  5. If the leak is spreading across the floor or any other surface, create a dam with kitty litter or rags
  6. If there is spillage that needs to be cleaned spread kitty litter or sawdust over it and leave it to soak. It can then be gently swept up
  7. Call Lamprey Energy; no matter how small the leak, your tank MUST be inspected
